| Customer Reviews:
Stopped working after 4 months... December 5, 2008 So perhaps I was just unlucky but this thing worked great until it completely crapped out and I lost some very important notes I had left on it. I have to be honest but I have not had very much luck with Olympus products in general. I am now using a Sony voice recorder which is still working after 6 months. I have to agree with some other reviewers that the software is pretty slow and can be cumbersome...sometimes it doesn't recognize the device and you have to keep trying until the computer does recognize it.
Great seller, great product December 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
great seller.
great product.
records very well in normal settings...however the software that came with the device is somewhat ancient and difficult to use.
great for ghosthunting December 1, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
this is a great ghosthunting tool, it is inexpensive and records well. i use it with xpaudio and audacity. It hold several differnet files and folders. It does take some getting used to when operating the first few times, I find erasing the right folder difficult, but I am probably one of the most untechnical people, so I need simple technology. However, I am getting used to it, and have found it fits my need perfectly.
Great device with one major flaw November 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this device, I carry it everywhere, it is part of my own productivity workflow (combination of GTD, Eat that Frog, and my own systems).
One major flaw is the software, it is extremely slow to transfer as a few people mentioned, but there is absolutely no support for Vista 64 bit. I have contacted them a few times and there is no plans on fixing this. I transfer files from XP 32 bit through VMWare, which is kind of a pain, but I always have it available so it is ok for now. Ultimately I would like to not have to deal with that, I will likely be purchasing a replacement soon as I use this so much I want it to be as efficient as possible.
Another thing I don't like is having to set the date/time and some settings every time I change the batteries (use good recharables, you will get about a month or two on the batteries under lots of use).
Add an Olympus TP7 and you can easily record both ways of phone conversations, great for phone meetings and taking notes.
If it wasn't for the software I would give the device a 4-5 star.
Olympus Digital Recorder November 27, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Product was not as expected. Case was thin plastic. Complicated for over 50's crowd to use. I was looking for something that is not complicated but most all digital recorders seem to be.
